The Western Wall

The Western Wall is Judaism's holiest site. With the exception of Robinson's Arch, this retaining wall is the only remnant that remains of the Second Temple. Underneath the Western Wall is a tunnel that runs the full length of the Wall. The Western Wall is also known as the "Wailing Wall" as it is a site where the Jewish people, to this day, mourn the destruction of their temple. On the other side of the Western Wall is the Temple Mount compound, which remains under the control of the Waqf, the Islamic religious authority. The pictures below show the Western Wall, the Western Wall Plaza, as well as the Western Wall Tunnel. The first photo shows a building directly adjacent to the Wall. The six stars shown on top of the building represent the six million Jews who were murdered by the Nazis during the Shoah (Holocaust). The celebratory parade towards the end is the Jewish Bar'Mitzvah.
