Shalom, Friends of
Israel,
In this newsletter, you
will find several of
this week's leading
headlines and, perhaps
more importantly, their
tie-in with
Christianity, Israel
and/or the Middle East.
You may/may not have
noticed that these
articles appear on our
blog and/or official
site. This is by design.
However, rest assured,
we will always run them
in our newsletter first,
usually 1-2 days before
posting them to our
site. This puts our
newsletter subscribers
in a favorable, albeit
trivial position as they
see our articles before
they go "live".
It's been a very active
week on the
international stage.
Let's take a look at
some of this week's
headlines.

Arab
Terrorist Killed in
Jerusalem's Old City
|
An
Arab terrorist was shot
and killed Friday
morning in the Christian
Quarter of Jerusalem's
Old City, near the Jaffa
Gate. Ahmed Mahmoud
Khatib, 29, was reported
dead at the scene after
he managed to grab an
Israeli security guard's
weapon--a pistol whose
bullets struck the
security guard in the
chest, and injured
several bystanders in
the process. A second
Israeli security guard
returned fire, killing
the terrorist instantly.
This marks the first
terrorist incident in
Jerusalem's Old City in
nearly two years.
Israeli Police Chief
David Cohen praised the
security guard's quick
response as "exemplary".
Not at all surprising
was the account given by
an unidentified, Arab
"eyewitness", who stated
the two security guards
continually fired upon
the terrorist, even as
he lay dead--a tactic
known as "confirming the
kill". However, closed
circuit surveillance
tapes presented a
different account, as
they clearly showed that
the wounded security
guard never fired upon
the terrorist, and the
second guard acted well
within protocol when he
returned fire.
Are you at all surprised
that the
terrorist-enabling
"newspaper of record",
the New York Times,
failed to mention this
in their report?
Even more insidious was
the reaction from a
certain Arab member of
the Israeli government.
Arab MK Ahmed Tibi took
Cohen to task for his
lauding of the guard's
response in the
incident, stating,
"Praise for an act in
which innocent
bystanders were killed
and in which 'confirming
the kill' was carried
out is shocking and
encourages further harm
to innocents."
I wonder. Is it standard
operating procedure for
a member of the Israeli
parliament to accept as
truth the account of a
bystander--in this case,
a fellow Arab--before
perusing the factual
evidence surrounding a
terrorist incident?
Considering the fact
that the Arab terrorist
was the only person
killed in this incident,
is the Arab MK going on
record as publicly
classifying an armed
terrorist as an
"innocent bystander"?
Ahmed, I think your
presence is requested on
"the other side".

Olmert Transfers Funds to
Abbas, but it's Hamas Who
Gets Paid |
Just
weeks after President
Bush went on national
television and lauded
Palestinian Authority
Prime Minister Salam
Fayyad as "a
good feller...who can
lead the 'Palestinians'
in a different direction",
Fayyad--who formerly
served as Finance
Minister for the PA--and
his boss, PA Chairman
Abu Mazen (Mahmoud Abbas)
have been doing a rather
stellar impression of
their former boss,
arch-terrorist and PLO
Chairman Yasser Arafat.
Citing it as a "computer
error", PA/Fatah
officials have now
admitted to
"accidentally" wiring
approximately $16
million dollars--money
transferred to them by
Israeli PM Ehud Olmert--into
the Bank of
Palestine--specifically,
the bank accounts of the
Hamas terror
organization, who
immediately withdrew the
money. In so doing, they
violated the only
stipulation placed on
the transfer of funds by
Israel: Don't give it to
Hamas.
Congratulations, Ehud.
Quite literally, you
just paid a year's
salary to 3,500 Hamas
terrorists whose sole
ideology is predicated
upon your destruction.

Olmert: "The aim is to
achieve US President George
Bush's vision..." |

The Prime Minister of
Israel sure has his
priorities in proper
order. At the top of his
list, one would think,
should be bringing to an
end the daily barrage of
Qassam rockets raining
down on southern Israel,
in towns such as Sderot,
or perhaps facilitating
the release of Ehud
Goldwasser, Eldad Regev
and Gilad Shalit--the
three IDF soldiers
kidnapped last year by
"Palestinian"
terrorists. To this end,
wouldn't a competent
prime minister modify
his/her diplomacy?
No, not Ehud Olmert.
Apparently, he has other
plans. It's been over a
year since the IDF
soldiers were kidnapped,
and several years since
terrorists first infused
the skies over southern
Israeli with Qassam
rockets. The boys are
still missing; the
rockets still flying.
However, during a span
of time covering a mere
20 days, Israeli PM Ehud
Olmert can lay claim to
facilitating the release
of over 250 convicted,
"Palestinian" terrorists
from prison,
padding Hamas bank
accounts to the tune of
$16 million, "good will"
dollars,
regularly schmoozing
around Jericho with
Yasser Arafat-successor
and Holocaust-denier Abu
Mazen
and, in so doing,
becoming
the first Israeli PM to
set foot in a
"Palestinian territory"
since the outbreak of
the intifada.
Last week, in an attempt
to make public his clear
and present diplomatic
agenda, the Israeli
leader confirmed what
the people of Israel
already know to be his
strongest, most prolific
attribute--a
penchant for cowering to
and following President
George W. Bush and his
infatuation with a
"Palestinian" state.
How this man is able to
remain in office is
beyond my span of
comprehension.

PERSECUTION WATCH:
Female Christian Professor
Forced to Convert to Islam
by HAMAS in the Gaza Strip
|
 |
A
female, Christian professor
at Gaza City's Palestine
International University was
kidnapped by Hamas militants
and "forced to convert to
Islam in order to marry a
Muslim man", WorldNetDaily
reports. Although Hamas
officials denied the
accusation, they confirmed
that Saba al-Sayegh, who
went missing on June 24,
willfully converted to
Islam, and have allegedly
provided "conversion
documents" certifying it as
such.
Shortly after her
disappearance, Sayegh
telephoned her parents
stating she couldn't talk,
but related she was being
held against her will. A few
days later, her family
received a copy of the
conversion documents.
Since their takeover of the
Gaza Strip, the Hamas
"government" has sought to
impose complete and total
Islamic law in the region,
and has related that the
safety and well-being of
Christians living in Gaza is
directly proportionate to
their complete acceptance of
Islamic law. Moreover, Hamas
officials have issued a
public warning stating that
any Christians who are
observed engaging in
"missionary activity will be
dealt with harshly."
